featuring the Blair McLeod from the blog Wild and Precious.

this week my little girl has officially been part of the “real world” longer than she was part of the “inside mommy’s tummy” world! I can’t believe how big she has gotten.  she calls out for “mama,” pulls up on everything, and is just all around busy!  We took a trip to Essex Bargin Hunt (if you’ve never been to one you are missing out) and found her some very discounted presents for her birthday – a little kiddy pool and a little wooden push bike. less than 3 months until she turns 1! i just can’t stop thinking about how fast time has flown and how blessed I am by her. we also got the go ahead this week to let her eat (almost) anything that we are eating – can’t wait to see her face when she gets to nibble on such delicacies as pizza or homemade peach ice cream!

For the past three years I have been eyeing the Hammock Chairs that sit outside Whole Earth Provisions here in Austin, but not until last Sunday did I finally decide that it was time to make the purchase. Between the bit of Christmas money I still had just burning a whole in my wallet and the absolutely delightful weather we have been having, I decided the time had come. As an added unexpected bonus, in honor of Earth Day, 5% of my purchase went to local non-profits working in the environmental field including Hill Country Conservancy, TreeFolks, Sierra Club, Clean Water Fund, Texas Land Conservancy, and my favorite Friends of Barton Springs Pool.

The Mary Kay Day Solution has always been a favorite product of mine.  During the summer, I fly through this product so quickly, applying it to my thirsty skin sometimes twice a day.  The rich mixture protects my skin from the sun rays (SPF 25), while repairing previously damaged skin.  Could it get any better?!?  Yes, actually!  It’s age-defying formula makes this serum top-of-the-line.  I might as well fight those laugh lines and eye wrinkles while I am at it.  The Mary Kay Day Solution coupled with a trendy pair of sunglasses has me feeling ready to take on the heat this summer!

I have been meaning to visit Enchanted Rock State Natural Area for about four years now, and finally made it happen this past weekend. Nestled away in the Texas hill country, Enchanted Rock is basically a giant pink granite dome – huge boulders are scattered everywhere you look, and the landscape changes from cacti to wildflowers in a matter of yards. We opted for a primitive campsite this weekend, as there is just something about waking up and seeing a car in front of you that doesn’t feel quite right. We hiked 1.6 miles to our site, surrounded by cacti, bugs and lizards at every angle and with a beautiful view of Enchanted Rock. It was a great weekend full of hiking and taking in the beautiful Texas landscape. As nice as it is to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, however, after a few meals of peanut butter sandwiches, sleeping on solid ground, and taking cactus needles in the leg – it felt great to eat ‘real’ food and sleep in my big comfy bed!!
